3 Lessons to help you live your life on purpose and with passion
Are the rigors of daily living weakening your desire and thwarting your attempts to live a happy, purposeful and passionate life? Start with the following three lessons to turn things around.
1. Learn to say no.When you say no to too many demands for your time and your energy, you are saying yes to yourself - your physical, emotional and spiritual health. You are giving yourself time and space to breathe, to prioritize, to heal, to rest, to refresh, to be and give your best to the people and activities that are most important to you.
2. Learn to set boundaries. Boundaries not only limit what enters your mental, physical and emotional space, they preserve what is already there: who you are, what you love, what you do and dream of doing. Boundaries create a protected area within which you can be yourself, stretch and explore on your own terms. Boundaries are like salt – they preserve the sanctity of the time, space, activities and dreams you cherish.
Be careful not to use boundaries as a weapon. If there are relational and situational problems, deal with them and then set the kind of boundaries that could help to eliminate their re-occurrence or at least minimize the extent to which they impact your days.
3. Learn to dance to your own music. The days for dancing to someone else’s tune are over. Crank up the volume on your own tune, write your own lyrics and choreograph your own moves. Regardless how strange it may seem to others, dance to your heart’s delight and sing to the top of your voice.
If you learn three lessons well and practice them consistently, you will begin to live your own life on purpose and with passion.
